Welcome!

Our homeschooling group is so glad you are here and are considering or have decided to homeschool. If you are anything like I was when I started the homeschooling journey, you may be overwhelmed with all of the information. I researched and researched and had information overload…..LOL.

First of all, relax and breathe. Now, get ready for a wonderful journey of homeschooling! To start, know that you’re not alone….we are here to help all along the way! Murfreesboro has a wonderful homeschooling community! We are able to help with any questions you have. We can help answer questions about umbrella schools versus reporting directly to the district, as each has their own advantages. Need recommendations for school curriculum? We will be glad to share our experiences! Be sure to join our Murfreesboro Homeschoolers group on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/mboro.homeschoolers/ to discuss all-things homeschooling. More information will be posted soon on this site, as far as curriculum choices, umbrella school listings, etc., as time allows.

So, what’s next? Where do I start? For more information on homeschooling in Tennessee, I recommend visiting https://www.tn.gov/education/families/school-options/home-schooling-in-tn.html to learn more about homeschooling options – Independent Home School, Church-Related Umbrella School (Category IV), and Accredited Online School (Category III).

To learn more about umbrella versus district school reporting, visit our page at https://murfreesborohomeschooling.com/umbrella-schools/. (Please note that this is a new page so the list of umbrella schools is not yet complete).

Attendance for homeschooling requires instruction for 180 instruction days.

The following law took affect for all kindergartners beginning in August 2013.Tennessee Code Annotated, 49-6-3001(b)3: Children entering kindergarten shall be (5) years of age on or before August 15.

Remember, we are here to help and are excited for your homeschooling journey!
